Trying Stinky Tofu for the First Time in Taiwan
We're trying stinky tofu for the first time, a popular street food in Taiwan. We're at Ningxia Night Market in Taipei and we can smell the stinky tofu long before we can see it. It lives up to its name! It definitely stinks...but how does it taste? Watch how it's made and come try it with us for the first time.

Detroit is one of the few US Cities that still has some traditional Jewish Delis....Steves (In West Bloomfield) and Stage (also in West Bloomfield) are quite good with great deserts (7 Layer Cake!).
Bro what are the odds someone sits in the chair and die 😂😂
My daughter is having her wedding at the Monarch Club which sits on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building. Beautiful restoration was done and hopefully many of the guests will rediscover or see Detroit for the first time.
Wow, that sounds like a gorgeous venue! All the best to you and your daughter on her wedding day :) We also made a video and where to eat and drink in Detroit...some great inspiration for your guests, I hope! It's here: bit.ly/detroitfoodie
Thank you Eileen. I have lived in the city most of my life and this travelogue brought a tear to my eye. I have yet to return to the Book Tower since my childhood when my parents brought me there.
I'm delighted this moved you - thank you for sharing that. 🥹 I hope you'll have a chance to visit the Book Tower again and that it brings back great memories for you. We also made a video about great places to eat and drink - I don't know if you already know these spots but some great ones to add to your summer list: bit.ly/detroitfoodie :)
After seeing your video, I would like to visit the CHARLES WRIGHT MUSEM OF AFRICAN HISTORY. Thanks for your very nice presentation of Detroit and surrounding area.
I'm so glad to hear that and delighted you enjoyed our video. ❤️ Are you from Detroit? We made another video about food and drink in Detroit with lots of great spots...perhaps one to pair with your museum visit ;) It's here: bit.ly/detroitfoodie
I love tea and now I especally love the idea of the sound of tea being stirred in a cozy and prettily shaped glad on a street in Instanbul
It's the best sound! Every city has its own soundtrack ☺️
I’ve been here before crazy expirience!
Yes, it's so incredible! Are you from Poland?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
👋😄
I live downtown Detroit & I’m from Detroit glad you enjoyed it thanks for the video lots of information I didn’t know . I love this city to infinity ❤️
Here's an idea, start your video in a nicer municipal setting, like a park (Detroit has many) instead of a dumpy parking lot next to WTF building you choose. I'm having a hard time convincing myself to come downtown. Think I'll just stay in Plymouth and Ann Arbor area.
It Taste good not that bad
Glad you enjoy it! It just wasn't for me.
Why you don't like mushroom
I don't know, I just never have. Do you?
How about crime, did you feel safe? I wanna see this place, it looks amazing! But Detroit is known for its high crime rate.
I live downtown Detroit for 7 years And I’m from Detroit . Detroit is a very big city so there are parts you may want to avoid but the parts that aren’t clean I’d say avoid but most people mind their business if you mind yours. For downtown Detroit it is by far the safest in my opinion I never had a single issue in the 7 years I’ve been here and it’s a expensive part of the city I highly recommend great food great people.
I LOVE,SO MUCH keeping the original solid beautifully designed architecture buildings. Please STOP tearing down old buildings. ❤❤❤
Absolutely agree ❤
i love the Allegheny!! its my favorite train.
I can see why! Have you seen this one in person at the museum?
No actually, but I REALLY wanna go there
actually gm was started in flint.
Hi! I don't think I said otherwise? 🤔
Spectaculaire!
Oui! ☺️
I love architecture… I’d love to see this… it reminds me a little bit of Sumaya in Mexico City it’s curves changes or perception changes according to the light and it has great curves too and the interior is completely opposite of the outside what a structure!❤
That's a great comparison and I can see what you mean! Definitely a similar vibe. I love that place too. ☺️
Love Detroit. The Henry Ford. DIA. Waterfront. Architecture. Michigan Central - where is on your video? - so much to love. Bike riding downtown Sunday evening and feeling safe. Great town.
Agree! There's a lot more we want to go back and explore. Are you from Detroit? We also made a video on food and drink and I'd love to know if you're familiar with these great spots: bit.ly/detroitfoodie :) Let us know any other suggestions please...!
I love Helsinki. I can't wait to go back !
We loved it too! Kept extending our stay actually. Did you have a favourite part? We made other videos there if you'd like to see more: bit.ly/finlandplaylist Have you been to other parts of Finland as well? Lapland is gorgeous... 😍
@@EileenAldis I'm definitely going to do that Flyover Helsinki Cinema Experience. I didn't know about it. I'm going to Helsinki in three weeks and plan on visiting the contry side as well. Thanks for the tip !
@@christopherdieudonne That's great! It's really fun. Everything is in our videos and Finland is one of my favourite series we've done - so many great foods, places, and activities. Have an amazing time!
Omg, I absolutely love food market, especially when I’m visiting foreign country. I always try new food and like to observe people. Thank you guys for the short video. Big hug.❤❤
Hi Ewa! Same here. I always want to visit the markets and grocery shops. One of my favourite activities. ❤️
Thank you for this video. I lived in Windsor from 74 to 78 and went to college there. We went to Detroit all the time for the best concerts, bars, food and shopping. It was a riot. I was sad about the later decline. It's taken awhile, but i'm so glad to hear about the rebound. I must go back. The big difference. I remember our dollar being at par. Now it sucks.
Thanks for sharing! That must've been a lot of fun. The Canadian dollar is less fun, yes. 😂 But still a great time to go back! We also made a video about where to eat and drink (here: bit.ly/detroitfoodie) full of ideas for when you make your next trip. :)
1 Thing To Do In Detroit Michigan LEAVING 1967 riot lost 50% of white people i was there
Hoping you'll return to Detroit in checking out the newly renovated Old Train Station Depot (Corktown district) along with the Redford Theatre (Old Redford district), Heidelburg Project (Mt. Elliott St), and the Old Mariners Church (by the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel & Ren Cen).
Thanks for these suggestions! I am very excited to see the train station next time and have wanted to visit the Heidelberg Project for a long time. Adding all to my wish list! We also made a video about food and drink in Detroit: bit.ly/detroitfoodie Curious if you know these spots or have other recommendations :)
@@EileenAldis For food, definitely try Mexican Village restaurant, Johnny Noodle King, Green Dot Stables, Slow's BBQ (near the old train station depot), and TAP MGM (inside MGM Grand Detroit).
@@onyxdragon oooh thanks for these recommendations! I can't WAIT to see the newly reopened train station 😍
If you read her official autobiography, you will read that she was actually hired by the democrats to play a role in order to get more black people’s votes ❤ and if you’re going to reply and say I’m wrong, Rosa parks was in her 30-40s, she was a seamstress, so she sat down all day, meaning her feet were perfectly fine.
Loved the video, thanks for sharing your experiences 🥰 is Antigua expensive? May I ask what you have paid in the traditional restaurant?
Terrific podcast…I realize time limits you to showing more great spots to visit in Detroit… hope you can show us Detroit again at other venues…you did a great job…Im about 25 miles north of Detroit and visit often, the casinos🤣, cork town, sports stadiums ,eastern market, Henry Ford, Greenfield Village, Belle Isle, Greek town, Mexican Village, SLO’s barbecue , China town, and my favorite, DIA which you did a awesome job showing, and the DSO, Henry Ford Estate…Detroit is exploding with new and refurbished history…the Train Station is now refurbished and the newest jewel in Detroit…this past week they had a huge concert with many of Detroit’s iconic musicians…it was incredible….so, thank you so very much for this podcast…I’ll be watching it over and over again looking for your next podcast…oops forgot New Gordy Howe Bridge…to be completed in2025
Campus Martius park…movie nights and seasonal ice skating
Detroit has a great mix of new and revitalized classic architecture. And don't sleep on Detroit pizza.
Agreed! And YES to the pizza. We tried it for the first time and made a video about it (and a bunch of other yummy spots to eat and drink) - that video is here: bit.ly/detroitfoodie Curious if you know these places...?
@@EileenAldis We were recommended Buddy's for the pizza, which was fantastic. I love French cuisine as well, definitely will check out La Supreme from your foodie video next time we're there.
@@Part-Time-Pope That's great! We're glad we got to try Buddy's too, especially for our first time having Detroit pizza. Let me know how you enjoy La Supreme or anywhere else you try! :)
Not a single person during planning, drawing, development, contracting, or construction said "hey high ceilings are fun and all, but every shelf above people's heads here is a waste of space and money, and doesn't even really look nice."
haha it may not always be the most practical but I personally think it looks fantastic 😍
Gentrification & segregation is alive & well in Detroit, make no mistake..
She was a communist operative trained in using non-violence to create violence. Believe she was trained in TN.
Ok but how do you get a book that is 10m up?
haha an excellent question and one I sadly didn't get the chance to find the answer to... 😉
I would not want to be in that space during an earthquake...eek! All those books crashing down on top of people - horrifying!
Hey Aileen - I would enjoy seeing this library ! Well designed. Did they show you how to get a book (down) from the high shelves ?? Thxs - I'm back on the bus haha. 🌸✈🌸
But a wonderful place to visit otherwise! ;)
Hey Renee! No, I don't know how to get a book down... I'm sure someone does! 😉😂
Try Green Dot Stables and Cadieux Cafe. They've been around for ages and are a lot more interesting than the places on this list.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm curious have you been to all the places in this video? We made another video about Detroit if you'd like to see it as well..it's a top 10: bit.ly/detroittop10 :)
Great video,,,I stayed in Detroit thirty five years ago for a few days and visited the incredible .Ford Museum and was so disappointed in downtown Detroit. I see now Detroit has rebounded and looks beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like it may be time for another visit to Detroit...! :) We made another video about places to eat and drink I think you'd enjoy as it shows more of the city as well: bit.ly/detroitfoodie
Born and raised in Detroit a very, very long time ago and haven't been back in a very, very long time. This video was wonderful to see. I am wracking my brain trying to remember the best rib spot ever, with jazz, in the late 60s.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :) We made another video about places to eat and drink...maybe it will jog your memory about the rib place - it's here: bit.ly/detroitfoodie Hopefully you can get back for a visit soon!
Great idea love ❤️ it 👍🏼
It’s such a cool idea and makes a lot of sense ☺️
@@EileenAldis indeed I think they have made some really cool accommodations made with them on floating device made of recycled plastic bottles and recycled wood in the Netherlands to promote cheap accommodations for students or something like that and it’s been a real success and people are making bigger floating houses now…if I come across this again I’ll Dm you

JFK was young, handsome, charismatic. He prevented world war 3( Nuclear war) with Soviet Union (USSR). He developed lunar landing program. Zapped the gaps of racial prejudice sincerely. Human rights promotion. Stopped the impending Nuclear war with Russia before it breaking out. He declared Peace around the world and set up Peace Corps in the world. JFK seeking peace in the world whilst other Presidents were war Mongers selling weapons to other countries pomoting MIC of Pentagon. President Eisenhower warned Americans on danger of The MIC- MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.
Never saw uniforms like those before. Very interesting.
Me neither.
You look gorgeous in that dress.
Thank you! I felt amazing in it :)
Love to visit this tradtional place
You'd love all the history!
#1 thing to do in Detroit is to pack up and move.
Not much else to do in the detroit area but eat.
I agree with you that the Motown Museum is a must-see, but don't forget about the Detroit Zoo! It was the first zoo in the country to have open air exhibits for the animals, instead of cages. The landscaping on the grounds is great too.
Thanks for sharing this about the Detroit Zoo! That's very interesting.
👍👏🙂🙋
☺️🙌
Omg Eileen they are so adorable
Marc's favourite 😭
I have to go back and do the things you mentioned. I was a student at WSU in 1977-79 and my dad worked for the Detroit News back in the 60s-89. Boy has it changed. I remember going g to the African American museum when it first opened. It looks like it has really expanded. What a great city. And I was from Ann Arbor.
I've heard Ann Arbor is lovely! Would like to visit there too. Sounds like you live somewhere else now. We also made a video about food and drink with lots of spots to try when you get back for a visit: bit.ly/detroitfoodie :) Have a great time!
@@EileenAldis yes, I live in Traverse City, MI but visit Detroit often as my SIL lives there. She actually lives in Bloomfield Hills but we always do Detroit things when we are there.
